Visitors from Denmark at the Wollankstraße Construction Project
A group of Danish infrastructure construction experts recently visited our Wollankstraße project. Their primary focus was on construction while operations continue and the requirements of historic preservation – particularly with regard to the building stock, some of which is over a hundred years old.
The visit was organized by the Danish Industry Association “Danish Industry.” Among those present were representatives from the Danish companies NORDKYSTEN, MUNCK, and AARSLEFF RAIL, with whom SPITZKE has frequently collaborated for many years on projects in Denmark as part of a joint venture. “We are very pleased about this exchange with our Danish colleagues,” said Torsten Völker, Chief Revenue Officer at SPITZKE, regarding the visit. “On the one hand, because we’ve been working together as partners on our projects in Denmark for years and maintain a good relationship. On the other hand, because we can learn a lot from each other thanks to our different approaches and experiences.”
As a result, a lively exchange took place on site, including discussions on the historical context of the bridge’s construction and its impact on the engineering measures. This was most evident in the planned pedestrian tunnel, which is to pass through the old structure. This tunnel will, in a sense, re-establish the connection at Wollankstraße that was severed by the former border between East and West Berlin.
After visiting Wollankstraße, the group headed to the construction site of the Ringbahn bridges (Halenseebrücke/Westendbrücke) near Messe Berlin, where SPITZKE had also provided support during the emergency demolition.
