Renovations in a World Heritage Site

The Rhine Corridor project will comprehensively modernize the heavily used rail line between Troisdorf and Wiesbaden. From July 10, 2026, to December 12, 2026, the rail line on the right bank of the Rhine will be completely closed. During this time, extensive work will be carried out to prepare the railway route for the coming years. We are part of the Rechter Rhein renovation project, which extends 41.3 km from Kaub to Oberlahnstein.

Throughout the entire project tracks, switches, and signals will be upgraded to the latest standards, and new electronic signal control technology will be installed. In some sections, new overhead line systems will be installed and the contact wire will be replaced. In addition, 36 stations along the route will be modernized, pedestrian underpasses will be renovated, and platforms will be extended.

We are carrying out the corridor renovation as the general contractor and are implementing a wide range of construction services together with our partners. As part of the renovation of the Rhine route, we are undertaking a significant amount of engineering work.

Information about the project at a glance

Our services in Lot 2 are divided into three major areas:

The office in Erlensee carries out the track-related services.
The Large Scale Projects/Structural Engineering division implements a large part of the service catalog, comprising a total of 31 structures.
The Equipment/Electrical Engineering division coordinates the overhead line systems, telecommunications, 50 Hertz, and control and safety systems

Large Scale Projects/Structural Engineering Activities (Excerpt):

Demolition and reconstruction of three culverts
Demolition of a pedestrian overpass
New construction and rehabilitation of eight railway overpasses
Comprehensive modernization of eight transit stations (platforms including stairs and roofs, elevators, passenger tunnels)
Rehabilitation of 1,800 m of gravity retaining walls
5,800 m² of rock slope stabilization

Equipment/Electrical Engineering Measures (Excerpt):

2,200 component grounding points
35,800 m of overhead line system (OS) and cable installation
Conversion and new construction of 21 switch heating systems
Three signal foundations
73,000 m of cable installation for control and safety systems (LST) and telecommunications (TK)
New construction of two concrete signal boxes
42,200 m of underground cable installation

Track Work (Excerpt):

Tamping work on 20,200 m
Complete ballast replacement and subgrade improvement on 4,750 m
3,200 m of track replacement
Replacement of 34 turnouts
Installation of 18 new poles
