SPITZKE is implementing the next major project, after the 4080 and 1733 high-speed lines, for the modernization of the most important rail transport axis in the Federal Republic. On 26 May, the renovation of the Fürth-Würzburg line will mark the start of a project for the railroad infrastructure specialist which is unparalleled in terms of scope and construction time constraints.
By the end of the main construction period on September 12, 2023, 127 km of track will have been renovated using assembly line techniques and 6.5 km by conventional methods, 123 km of ballast will have been cleaned by machines and 10.5 km by conventional methods, 20 km of formation renewals will have been carried out and a total of 41 switches will have been replaced. In addition, 1,150 m of underground drainage, 25 underground drainage shafts, 260 m of bridge beams, 383 km of grinding rail, the replacement of 42 km of underground drainage filter layer and the construction of 107 km of side walkways and 1,300 m of side-walkway structure will be completed.
The project is being implemented in two construction phases (BA). BA 1 stretches from Würzburg to Neustadt/Aisch and will be implemented during the main construction period from May 26 to August 6. This will be followed by BA 2 from Neustadt/Aisch to Fürth with a projected construction period ending on September 12. SPITZKE’s Central Competence Center and the Buchloe branch are in charge of this project between Fürth and Würzburg with the support of the entire SPITZKE Group.
