Intensive months of preparation are behind us: This Friday, construction work has begun on the largest corridor project undertaken by the SPITZKE Group.
With a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony at Neumarkt station, Gerd Dietrich Bolte, Member of the Management Board for Infrastructure Planning and Projects at DB InfraGO, Christian Bernreiter, Bavarian State Minister for Housing, Building and Transport, and Ulrich Lange, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport, among others, officially marked the start of the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Nuremberg to Regensburg corridor.
The work during the five-month full closure is intended to make the heavily used Route 5850 more stable and resilient over the long term. This also includes a significant reduction in disruptions and delays. The project is being carried out by several construction partners. We have been awarded Construction Section 1 from Regensburg to Neumarkt as the general contractor. Large parts of the SPITZKE Group are involved in delivering the comprehensive renewal of this 61 km section. All areas of expertise within SPITZKE are being brought together in what is the largest corridor project to date. The overall leadership lies with our Southern Competence Center in Buchloe. Track systems will be renewed over a length of 60 km, and the track formation will also be improved over 30 km.
Our scope of work includes 1.100 foundations as well as the installation and equipping of 1.200 overhead contact line masts. The concrete foundations and masts are produced in our own factories. In addition, the project includes the installation of 80 km of catenary systems, the installation of 60 km of feeder line, and laying 250 km of cable. Finally, we have measures to renovate two railway bridges and eight passenger stations.
We’d like to wish everyone involved lots of energy and successful collaboration on the Nürnberg to Regensburg project! We’ll keep you up to date on the construction progress. You can find more information at https://www.spitzke.com/nuernberg-regensburg/
