Starting signal: Our teams on the Hamburg–Berlin route

The time has come: after an intensive period of planning and preparation, we are now ready to get started. Today marked the start of the nine-month general overhaul in Ludwigslust. We are beginning with the general overhaul of the important Hamburg–Berlin route. This morning, the official starting signal for the nine-month renovation work was given at the kick-off event in Ludwigslust. In addition to Philipp Nagl, CEO of DB InfraGO, representatives of the five federal states involved in the project also took part in the opening ceremony.

We are working on Lot 1 from Hamburg-Rothenburgsort to Büchen and on Lot 2 with our consortium partner Leonhard Weiss from Büchen to Dergenthin. This evening, the overhead line along the entire route, which at 278 km is around four times as long as the Riedbahn, will be switched off. The construction tracks will then be set up.

The Hamburg–Berlin route is Germany’s most important direct city connection and is heavily used, with up to 470 trains per day in some sections. We are tackling this large scale project between the two cities, each with a population of over a million, and will be carrying out extensive work over the coming months. Our teams from across the SPITZKE Group are drawing on their experience from the general overhaul of the Riedbahn.

We wish everyone involved lots of energy and good cooperation!
