#Large-scale projects 25 November 2024

Hamburg–Berlin Corridor Project is Coming.

The general renovation of the next scheduled corridor project has been confirmed. In August 2025, work will begin in the Hamburg–Berlin corridor. We will be a part of it once again.

The contracts for the project between Hamburg and Berlin have been signed, and we have been commissioned. Following a Europe-wide tender process, we, together with LEONHARD WEISS, were awarded the contract for the nine-month major project “HLK Hamburg–Berlin Lot 2.” Lot 3 has also been assigned for the project’s execution, which will take place from August 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026. Lot 1 is expected to be commissioned by April 2025.

The general renovation of the Hamburg–Berlin corridor, the longest of all the planned corridors, will be challenging. Our client, DB InfraGO, is well aware of this fact. Construction work during the nine-month closure will take place between Berlin-Spandau and Wittenberge, Wittenberge and Büchen, as well as Büchen and Hamburg. The work on the 278 km route includes the renewal of 180 km of track, replacement of 70 km of overhead lines, and upgrading approximately 150 points. In addition, 28 stations will be rebuilt or modernized. New transfer points will also be created, and sections in the metropolitan regions of Hamburg and Berlin will be equipped with the new European Train Control System (ETCS). Our responsibilities within the joint venture (ARGE) include the new construction of 46 points, approximately 70 km of ballast cleaning, including track renewal and sleeper replacement, modernization of 5 train stations, construction of the EÜ Ludwigsluster Canal and 3 culverts, including associated overhead line and electrotechnical adjustments.

Following the intensive preparation and tender phase, the participating departments are now preparing for our second corridor project after the Riedbahn. We wish everyone participating great success!
