Easter holidays are over as is our first SPITZKE Camp of the year. Once again, many young people took part in the first round of 2026.
Now in its third year, the SPITZKE Camp takes place in Großbeeren and gives students an insight into the wide range of opportunities in rail infrastructure. This year introduced several new features. For example, participants could register for individual days instead of all four days. However, attendance on the first and last day was mandatory, as this is when the safety briefing took place and all participants were equipped with their personal protective equipment.
While the first day focused primarily on safety and getting to know SPITZKE and our apprenticeship programs, the following days were dedicated to exploring the practical side of the professions and subject areas. Divided into two groups and alternating between activities, participants practiced track panel assembly (track construction) and installing a paved surface (civil engineering) on the second day. On the third day, activities included rerailing, threading, and excavator operation (construction equipment handling), as well as material processing in the training center. The fourth day focused entirely on electrical engineering, including grounding and bonding, building cantilevers, and manufacture of overhead line hangers. To wrap things up, parents were invited to visit their children and learn more about career opportunities at SPITZKE.
We are already looking forward to the second round in the autumn.
