SPITZKE and the S 4 in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein

The SPITZKE Group, with several of its divisions and branches, is involved in the implementation of the “S 4 Hamburg-Oldesloe” construction project. Between the Hanseatic city and Bad Oldesloe in Schleswig-Holstein, the new S 4 will improve local transport, particularly for commuters.

The Large-Scale Projects/Structural Engineering division is responsible for the construction of several railway bridges and the new Bovestraße S-Bahn station.

The two existing bridges will be dismantled, and four two-span bridges will be built. In addition, the 140-metre-long and 96-centimetre-high platform will be built on the bridge. External sound barriers will also be built, as well as a separate wall between the platform and the mainline railroad. The Equipment/Electrical Engineering division is responsible for the electrical equipment of the new station, while the Track division is responsible for the installation of the emergency bridges.

The project consists of many different construction phases and will last from May 2021 to June 2027. In addition to the Bovestraße construction project, SPITZKE is involved in other contracts as a system supplier. For example, the Kaltenkirchen branch was awarded the contract for the cable civil engineering work in the first planning approval section. In addition to Bovestraße, SPITZKE’s Equipment/Electrical Engineering division is also responsible for the conductor rail work in the Hasselbrook and Wandsbek S-Bahn area.
