As a certified railway worker in operational service, specializing in locomotive operation and transport, you’ll operate our locomotives and traction vehicles while ensuring that everything arrives safely and punctually. Since safety in rail operations is always the top priority, you will be responsible for the vehicle technology used and will carry out the necessary inspections on the traction vehicle as well as on the vehicles being transported.

What you’ll learn during your apprenticeship
  • Vehicles: During your three-year apprenticeship to become a railway worker (m/f/d) in operational service, you’ll learn how to operate and inspect traction vehicles, how to carry out journeys and what to do in cases of operational disruptions.
  • Theory: At vocational school, you’ll learn what rules exist for driving and shunting trains, the importance of the various signals, and how the trains’ security systems work.
  • Simulation: With the assistance of computer-controlled simulation programs, you’ll also learn how signal boxes are controlled.
  • Teamwork: Our experiences SPITZKE training team is always on hand to help you with your tasks.

  • either have or will soon have a lower secondary school leaving certificate (Mittlere Reife)
  • enjoy technology and machines.

  • are confident working alone and independently on a locomotive.
