Second S-Bahn project in the north of Berlin
It has just become official. SPITZKE will also carry out the ESTW S8 North project on behalf of DB Netz AG. Thus, SPITZKE has won the contract for the second major S-Bahn project in the north of Berlin following the ESTW S1 North project. Work should start by March at the latest. This is when the first closure period begins. The completion is scheduled for the summer of 2027. The extensive S-Bahn project covers the section between Pankow Heinersdorf and Hohen Neuendorf and also affects the ESTW-A Schönfließ (F-Bahn) and other locations. The following sub-measures are to be carried out:
- The new construction of the ESTW S9 North Blankenburg module building including updating the signaling technology at the Blankenburg station.
- Integrating the ESTW-A Birkenwerder East in the module building at Birkenwerder including updating the signaling technology at Blankenburg station.
- Integrating the ESTW-A Schönfließ (F-Bahn) in the module building UZ Birkenwerder including updating the signal technology at the station Schönfließ (F-Bahn)
- New construction of hot-box and fixed-brake detection equipment HBD
- Renovation of the superstructure between Blankenburg and Schönfließ including conductor rails.
- Installing a soft trapezoid at Blankenburg station
- Constructing an interim connection for a planned workshop location.
