Footprint 2016-2017 (3C)

SPITZKE SPOORBOUW presents the final CO2 footprints for 2016-2 and 2017-1. The figures have been checked and approved by Energieconsult. The most recent conversion factors were used for both footprints, which makes clear trend analysis compared to previous years more difficult.

In order to give a clearer picture, we have also calculated the figures for the current footprints using the old conversion factors. Here it is noticeable that there is still a falling trend in CO2 emissions.

Progress of the CO2 reduction program 2016–2020 (4B2) (3B2) (5B2)

The CO2 reduction programme contains the reduction targets for the calendar years 2016 up to 2020 and the corresponding measures. At the beginning of 2017, SPITZKE evaluated this multi-year reduction programme. It was found that implementation of the targets set is on schedule and certain fundamental measures have already been implemented, with the exception of the Scope 2 reduction target. The reason for this is the highly altered organisation had a disproportionately large effect on this target, as a result of which it simply could not be achieved.

Chain analysis

In 2017, SPITZKE SPOORBOUW revised the chain analysis performed in 2010 and 2013. The extent of scope 3 emissions was re-checked and quantified. The chain analysis was revised and updated once again in mid-2016 following publication of Version 3.0 of the CO2 performance leaders.

Industry initiatives (3.D.1)

In recent years SPITZE has participated actively in the DIA workgroup. This workgroup examined possibilities for improving sustainability in the track-laying industry. The stimuli used by Spitzke to attempt to reinvigorate the workgroup remained unsuccessful.

In mid-2016, Spitzke therefore decided to join a new industry initiative called “NederlandCO2neutraal”.

Footprint 2014-2015 (3C)

SPITZKE SPOORBOUW presents the final CO2 footprints for 2014-2 and 2015-1. The figures have been checked and approved by Energieconsult. Both footprints contain the new conversion factors from manual 3.0, which makes clear trend analysis compared to previous years more difficult.

The CO2 reduction programme contained the reduction targets for the calendar years 2013 up to 2015 and the corresponding measures. The results of the named multi-year plan were in turn used as the input for the multi-year follow-up programme for 2016 to 2020. This can be downloaded using the following link.

Footprint 2013-2014 (3C)

SPITZKE SPOORBOUW presents the draft CO2 footprint for 2014-2 (July – December 2014). This footprint will soon be verified by Energieconsult. The trend analysis below, in which the 2nd half of 2014 has also been included, shows that SPITZKE SPOORBOUW’s CO2 emissions reduced still further in 2014!

At the beginning of 2016, SPITZKE will have completed the footprint for 2015, after which this will also be submitted to Energieconsult for verification. Starting from 2016, our ambition is for our footprint to be synchronous with the calendar year, instead of the financial year (as in the past).

Update of CO2 Reduction Programme 2013-2015 (4B2) (3B2) (5.B.2)

The CO2 reduction programme contains the reduction targets for 2013 up to and including 2015 and the corresponding operating policy measures. In 2013 the focus was on reducing the CO2 emissions of the vehicle fleet and in 2014/2015 it switched to the individual fuel consumption of employees. In 2015 the previously introduced policy, of motivating employees to use alternative travel options (public transport, car sharing, bicycle, etc.) and clearly identifying the CO2 emissions saved as a result, was continued. This ultimately resulted in a total saving of 7.3 tonnes CO2 (2.3 tonnes CO2 in 2014)! Furthermore, in 2015 particular focus was directed at further reducing energy consumption in the offices.

2016 we will be busy evaluating the multi-year CO2 reduction programme 2013-2015 and drafting and introducing a new multi-year reduction programme.

Chain analysis

In 2013, SPITZKE SPOORBOUW had the chain analysis it had performed in 2010 updated. The content of the Scope 3 emissions was remapped and quantified. This chain analysis was revised once again at the beginning of 2014 and was further underpinned with the organisational changes in SPITZKE SPOORBOUW.

Sector initiatives (3.D.1)

As in previous years, in 2015 SPITZKE is also taking part in the DIA work group. This work group examines possibilities for making the rail sector more sustainable.

Footprint 2012-2013 (3C)

SPITZKE SPOORBOUW presents the final CO2 footprint for 2012-2013. This footprint has been checked and approved by Energieconsult. In the following trend analysis, in which the 2nd half of 2013 has also been included, it can be seen that CO2 emissions reduced sharply in 2013 due to the reorganisation of SPITZKE SPOORBOUW.

Continuation of the CO2 reduction programme 2013-2015 (4B2) (3B2)

The CO2 reduction programme contains the reduction targets for 2013 up to and including 2015 and the corresponding company policy measures. In 2013 the programme focussed on reducing the CO2 emissions of the company’s fleet of vehicles. This year we acquired knowledge about the individual fuel consumption of employees who drive a leased vehicle. The team held a brainstorming session to determine the best way to reduce the fuel consumption per employee. The conclusion is that a group concept with a joint goal will function better than competition between employees and individual target setting. The group concept will be introduced in 2014.

Chain analysis

In 2013, SPITZKE SPOORBOUW revised the chain analysis it performed in 2010. The relevance of the Scope 3 emissions was remapped and quantified. This chain analysis was revised once again at the beginning of 2014 and was further underpinned in the context of the reorganisation of SPITZKE SPOORBOUW.
